Mine’s a million
Suffolk’s local credit union breaks the million pound barrier as for the first time in its nine year history the union took £1.2 million pounds in deposits in the last twelve months.
ISCU is a local financial service co-operative; open to all, with a special focus on providing services to people not able, or not wanting, to use conventional banks. Members can save from their pay or benefits and can borrow at rates much more affordable than on the high street or from doorstep loan sharks. Our services include a pay-as-you-go debit card and community banking across Suffolk.
General Manager, Chris Mole said, “This is a triumph for all the members, volunteers and staff at ISCU that we have crossed this line,
“Our union is growing at the rate of ninety new members each month and more people than ever are taking advantage of our safe savings and affordable loans.
“More than five and a half thousand people have been members of the credit union since we were established in 2002 and more are joining every day.
“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has made a contribution over the last nine years. Our services are important to many who would otherwise be excluded from normal financial services and vital for those who are unable to access high street banking facilities.
“We welcome anyone who wants to join the union. Individual members are welcome to save from £1.00 up to £10,000 with us, knowing that we lend responsibly to people who cannot otherwise access affordable loans.
